The Curse of Addiction
There is a famous saying : “One small step is worth more than a thousand steps planned.”
Don’t keep delaying the act of asking for help. Finding the courage to speak with an addiction professional may be the first most significant step on your journey to recovery.
When a person gets intoxicated for the first time, he must be thinking that what harm can be done to someone by drinking alcohol once or taking a couple of puffs of cigarette. And when he takes drugs for the second time, this time he tells himself that he will not do it from next time. But when he is unable to stop himself while intoxicated for the third time, this time he is filled with self-loathing and keeps the trust he had placed in himself on the side of the pillow and falls asleep, as if nothing had happened. He would go on getting stuck in a maze which is easy to get into but difficult to get out of.
The world of intoxication throws you out of the river of sorrow and into such a whirlpool of pleasures where you move away from the world of reality and you have no idea of the mistakes you have done. And in the desire to get such happiness again and again, you forget that this happiness is for a short time. Such a person acts like a poisonous substance for his family and people associated with himself, who gradually pollute the environment of his home due to his negative behaviour and mental weakness. Such a person destroys the happiness of his family in front of the happiness he gets from his intoxication.
An alcoholic person is neither able to understand his feelings nor is able to respect the feelings of another person. The life of a drunk person is only surrounded by resentment and humiliation. That person spends his whole life in useless thoughts. He can never set a goal. When such a person thinks about his successes and failures in the last moment of his life, then he remembers only failures. Throughout this life he gave nothing but suffering to his family and his loved ones.
There is no such person in the world who has never faced any problem, every person is facing some trouble and troubles somewhere. But some people find the solution to their problems in the dark streets of intoxication and some in the light of hope.
Addiction is not a necessity of human being but a bad habit which takes the form of disease which can be cured. Human brain takes 25-30 days to adopt a habit, a person can save himself and his family members from the harm caused by the habit of intoxicants. But to do so, he needs a strong will power, which is driven by patience and discipline and prevents intoxication.
