समय के साथ सब कुछ बदलता है, कुछ धीमी गति से कुछ तेज़। परिवर्तन हमेशा से शाश्वत् है। नशे की प्रवृति का हमारे समाज में, ख़ासकर युवा वर्ग में पिछले दो दशकों काफी हद तक इज़ाफा हुआ है। इसको लेकर हम केवल किसी एक वर्ग को जिम्मेदार नहीं ठहरा सकते, इसके लिये समाज के हर तबके को साथ आना होगा। मादक पदार्थों और नशे की बिमारी के रोकथाम की जानकारी का हमारे समाज में विषेश रुप से आभाव है। जब तक कोई हमारा अपना नशे के इस मायाजाल प्रभावित न हो रहा हो तब तक हम इसके बारे में ज्ञान अर्जित करने ज़हमत नहीं उठाते।

नशे की बुराई के विरुध्द और रोकथाम के लिये हमारे समाज में अनेक संस्थाऐं काम कर रही हैं, जिनका उद्देश्य व्यक्ति को नशे की गिरफ्त़ से बाहर निकालना और पूरी तरह से मादक पदार्थों पर निर्भता को समाप्त करना होता है। इन संस्थाओं को “नशा मुक्ति केंद्र या नशा मुक्ति पुनर्वास केंद्र” के नाम से जाना जाता है।

हमारे समाज में इन संस्थाओं को लेकर एक रुढ़ीवादी सोच बनी हुई है कि इन केंद्रों की सेवा लेने में बेइज्ज़ती होती है जो कि बिलकुल गलत है। हम में से बहुत लोग इन केंद्रों को कैद़ के रुप में देखते हैं और सोचते हैं कि यह जगह केवल अपराधिक प्रवृत्ती और गैर-सामाजिक लोगो के लिये है जो कि वास्तविकता से परे है। दरअसल नशे की आदत को रोकने के लिये दवा का ईजाद आजतक नहीं हुआ है पर एक विषेश कार्यपद्दति और थैरिपी द्वारा नशे का इलाज संभव है। इस कार्यप्रणाली के तहत नशा करने वाले व्यक्ति को कुछ समय के लिये सिमित दायरे में रखना पढ़ता है ताकी इलाज प्रभावशाली ढ़ग से हो सके और परीणाम बेहतर हो।
